Frequently Asked Questions

In some cases, you may be eligible to to use out-of-network benefits unique to your insurance plan. You are responsible for paying for each session in full at the time of your appointment and contacting your insurance for reimbursement.
-
You can use an out-of-network reimbursement calculator (such as Mentaya) to calculate this or I can provide you with my billing codes and you can directly ask your insurance provider.
Most out-of-network benefits are typically reimbursed at 60-80% of the cost of each session.I do not currently submit claims on my clients' behalf at this time.

Your out-of-network benefits are usually pretty straightforward to use. Most insurance companies have you upload your monthly superbill online or email it to them and then they will mail you a check with your reimbursement. Superbills are provided on the receipt of each session which you can access in your patient portal.
It’s always a good idea to call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.
You can ask them the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
What is my out-of-network deductible?
How much of my deductible has been met this year?
Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
How much will I be reimbursed for a 50 minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90834)?
How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

Like most specialty providers, I do not contract with any insurance providers. Choosing to be out-of-network allows my clients to receive maximum privacy, confidentiality, and flexibility. Your work with me is not restricted by insurance coverage, thus we get to go deep in our work and truly help you overcome whatever may be prompting you to seek therapy.
-
At this time, I do not have any available sliding scale spots available. However, please discuss this or any other barriers with me during our consultation call.

No, therapists are only allowed to provide services to clients physically located within the state they are licensed in. I am only licensed to provide services to clients physically residing within the state of Texas.

Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a totally free 30 minute consultation call with all potential new clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other, answer any questions you may have, and determine if we're a good fit. Your relationship with your therapist is the BEST predictor of positive outcomes so I promise to be honest if I don't think I am the best therapist to help you. Here’s what you can expect:
I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy and why now
I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist
You can ask me any questions that I didn’t cover
We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.

If we both decide we're a good fit, we'll schedule our first session - a full 60 minutes! I'll send you a few forms to fill out and review prior to our first session.
If we determine we are not a good fit - I'll provide you a list of referrals of other therapists who I have personally vetted and believe can better support you and your therapy journey. -
My approach to therapy is highly collaborative, non-judgmental, and relatable which I believe makes getting started a bit easier. During our first few sessions I'll ask you a ton of questions to get a better picture of your life story, who you are, and what makes overcoming these current stressors so challenging. I will listen to you without judgment, be curious about your experiences, and share about myself as is appropriate to build comfortability and trust. We will come up with goals together of what you hope to accomplish in therapy and how to measure progress towards those goals. During therapy, each session can be different. You'll have opportunities to vent, gain perspective and new insights, learn to challenge your thoughts, receive feedback, and develop and practice new coping skills. Therapy isn't always tough conversations and tears though, it also gets to be celebrating you, laughter, fun, and talking about your latest Netflix binge. No matter what you show up with, I am here to support you and will help you achieve the change and growth you are looking for. I also have two super cute pups that love to show up in our sessions and cheer you on, as well.

My approach is focused on finding you tangible, applicable solutions without losing sight of who you are beneath all the problem solving and hustle of our current world. This means you won’t have to be in therapy forever (unless you want to be). Many of my clients find that they’ve met their goals in 6-9 months of weekly meetings and no longer need therapy.
Many of my clients choose to remain in therapy for much longer. They have often seen improvements and really enjoy having ongoing support for whatever may come up in their lives. They say having a place to process their thoughts and feelings is helpful for them so they choose to continue coming either bi-monthly, monthly, or as needed.
